As you know that iOS 6.1.2 was the last firmware susceptible to the evasi0n jailbreak which made it quite precious for preserving jailbreak tweaks and apps. But after the release of iOS 6.1.3, Apple stopped signing iOS 6.1.2 which isn’t a good news for those who like to tinker with their phones. Adding more to it, the downgrading process of restoring your iOS 6.1.2 firmware back to iOS 6.1.2 has been made virtually impossible.
Anyhow it isn’t a big issue if you choose not to update your firmware. But the actual problem arises when you try to restore your device to stock iOS. Until now it wasn’t possible to do so without losing your untethered jailbreak. But with the release of Semi-Restore tool, this issue has also been resolved. Semi-Restore will enable you to restore your device in one click and what’s more special about this tool is that it will never erase your device’s jailbreak.
Here is a step-by-step guide to restore your iPhone to factory settings via Semi-Restore.
Create a folder on your desktop and name it as “Pwnage”. Download Semi-Restore via this link and extract its contents to the Pwnage folder.
For Windows users: Right-click SemiRestore.exe file and run it as administrator. (In case you are using Windows XP, switch to Windows XP compatibility mode in order to run this app)
For Mac users: Right-click/Control+click the SemiRestore app and open it. You may be required to enter your admin username and password before the app launches.
After the SemiRestore launches, click “OK” to continue.
Connect your device to the computer and tap “SemiRestore” button.
SemiRestore will now wipe your device clean and then reboot it.
A message will now appear to let you confirm that the process was successful and finally your device will reboot to the new device setup wizard. Now click the close button to exit the setup.
Semi-Restore is compatible with all jailbroken devices that run iOS 5.0 through iOS 6.1.2.
It is recommended to back up your device before you try this process to make sure you don’t lose any data.
