How to Root Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 Retail
Thanks to XDA member shep211 you can finally root the widely available retain version of the Galaxy Tab 10.1. You should follow the instructions with caution, but don’t worry, you can unroot your device in case you mess up anything. Follow the instructions below to root your Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1.
How to Root Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 Retail
Step 1
Download and extract nvflash to C:\
Step 2
Create shortcut of nvflash folder on your desktop.
Step 3
Run cmd.exe as admin from nvflash folder.
Step 4
Type following command:
c:\nvflash
Step 5
Turn off your your device then hold volume up + power button simultaneously for a while.
Step 6
Now plug your device with computer, open Device Manager ( Right Click on My Computer > select properties > Select Device Manager).
Step 7
You should have an APX device with error.
Step 8
Right Click on APX device > Click Update driver Software > Select Browse My Computer . Then select “Let me pick” option and select “Have disk”.
Step 9
You will be given file explorer. Browse to c:\nvflash\usbpcdriver , check subfolders radio button and select NVIDIA USB Boot-recovery driver for mobile devices.
Step 10
Click Accept in case you get any warning messages.
Step 11
Run following command
nvflash –bl bootloader.bin –go
Step 12
If you don’t get a black screen with white text then redo starting from Step 5.
Step 13
Repeat Step 5 then plug your device with computer and type following command:
nvflash –bl bootloader.bin –go
Your device will reboot and you should get black screen with white text on it
Step 14
Type following command to install recovery-cwm_4.0.0.4-sam-tab-10.1 custom recovery
nvflash –resume –download 8 recovery-cwm_4.0.0.4-sam-tab-10.1.img
Following commands will backup all partitions
nvflash –resume –read 2 part2.img
nvflash –resume –read 3 part3.img
nvflash –resume –read 4 part4.img
nvflash –resume –read 5 part5.img
nvflash –resume –read 6 part6.img
nvflash –resume –read 7 part7.img
nvflash –resume –read 8 part8.img
nvflash –resume –read 9 part9.img
nvflash –resume –read 10 part10.img
nvflash –resume –read 11 part11.img
nvflash –resume –read 12 part12.img
nvflash –resume –read 13 part13.img
nvflash –resume –read 14 part14.img
nvflash –resume –read 15 part15.img
nvflash –resume –read 16 part16.img
nvflash –resume –read 17 part17.img
